The Howe Family The Howe name has a colorful history and can be traced back to the crusaders, the colonial wars, and the revolution, while the Howe banner hangs in the chapel of Henry VII. Lieutenant Bezel Howe served in the revolution and was an auxiliary Lieutenant in Washington's Guard (Ancestors.) During the 19th Century Julia Ward Howe was famous for her work and married into the Howe family. She is well known for her humanitarian work and prison reform, writing the words for "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and starting Mother's Day. Two other notorious Howe's were Elias Howe who worked on the sewing machine, and Elizabeth Howe, hung for witchcraft in 1692. ![]() ![]() | Return Home | Contact | Catalog | Our Services | Great Links | FAQ Page | Whats New | |
